A little change in the wind up here...I've been holding back some news from you guys...

I took a part time job as a CDL examiner for the state of WY. Three days a week, decent pay and good benefits. I start on the 20th.

I figure that still leaves me a few days a week to truck or turn wrenches. I decided if in that remaining few days the ole' KW can't pull it's own weight money wise it will be up for sale....but I'll probably give it til spring or early summer before I make that decision for sure.

Well congratulations. I'm sure it will test your patience, but at least the new applicants will have someone with rear world experience to help them out!

As far as I know the requirement is just that they shift without grinding...but if they tell me the requirement is that they have to double clutch, well then it is what it is.

My personal opinion is that it shouldn't matter how someone chooses to shift, so long as they can do it without their attention drifting away from controlling the truck.

The examiner from the next county over told me that some of the equipment that people show up with to take the test will have you wondering how we don't see more accidents.

Part of the requirement is that if the truck they bring isn't safe then the test doesn't happen.

I wonder if it would be a conflict of interest for you to pick up a daycab with say a 10 speed and rent it out for testing?

It might be worth looking into. As long as the insurance wouldn't be too expensive for something like that.

And toasted tortilla shells to dip in it.
