I have to disagree at least in part with your portrayal of what employees mean to an employer, at least with small companies. Anyone can get equipment, and most anyone can get the work, but without good people you cannot keep it.
One of our guys broke his leg off the job two weeks ago. He does not have disability insurance, and will be out six weeks. We are going to pay him for 30 hours of work each week until he can return to work. We are not doing this because we are magnanimous, but because we need him and appreciate his ability. Replacing him would be very difficult.
It comes down to supply and demand just like any other business, and the demand for good operators is high. Perhaps there is a better supply of good conscientiousness drivers, but I doubt it after reading other areas of TTR.

We keep this account because we provide them with 15 -17 trucks daily and don't try to backhaul and only return 8 trucks the next day. We've got 30 loads tomorrow. If we are slow, our other account is 30 miles north that does about 400 loads a day, been with that customer since 1982.Westbound23, Zeviander, cke and 21 others Thank this. -
