Thank you for helping your employee during a tough time.

I know of a couple of companies that have done similar good things for employees in tough times and they all have one thing in common...... they are all small companies where the owners or at least second in command are on a first name basis with the employees.

The bigger companies I’ve been around......well......

I guess I have never worked for a company that had more than maybe 15 employees, so maybe I am naive about the corporate world.

If we were really smart we would provide disability insurance! Lol

That's definitely nice.... I'm just happy to actually have good concrete to work on now. The shop still is far from convenient but it's what I got.

I keep it heated all winter with a gas furnace and a wall heater on a stand (mama's butt warmer). Then I have a big torpedo in case I get cold. Finally put the door seal on the big door tonight after I put the truck in.

Your better off not experiencing that. I have never been one for over insuring anything. But disability insurance isn't a bad idea for anyone. However I wouldn't see that as a employer responsibly. I assume this was a off the job accident and he broke his leg. He was the adult that didnt protect himself with coverage. Now your going over and above your responsibilities to take care of him. I commend you for this. But what if this becomes a expectation and at some point you can't do it?.

    Yep...

My wife is going to be firing an entitled employee soon. Long story I won't get into, but it's a situation where despite the young lady not being a terrible human being, she's not holding up her end of the employer/employee agreement, and doesn't want to hear that she's not performing.

Yes, off the job, no workers comp.

This will end up being the bulk of his Christmas bonus, so I don't think there is much incentive to do it again, but I get your point. I should also add that he has been with us since we started in 2008, and I worked with him at another company for 10 years prior.
