The problem with milan is that most companies won't hire you coming out of their school. Just ck the posts from vickster. Company owned schools have always had that problem. I would not train there even if it was free. Because if you can't find a job it was a waste of your time and your time is worth more than zero. If that is, all your time is worth, then .26 per mile is good money for you, then drive for them.

I am going back to Milan and I have never really had a problem with them... I will have to definatly check out the pay package as I was aware the there were to be a 10% cut to LTL, and Salaried workers. I will update with the new info when I get back this weekend.

I just started back with MLXP and found out that I am getting 29.8 cents per mile. That is what the recruiter (Terry Mask) said that all the drivers are starting off at regaurdless of exp.

New update to the Milan Express experience. I love the company, just a few hitches that I don't particularly care for. I was broke down in Slidell, LA from 7/2 - 7/6. A/c compressor locked up and broke the clutch pulley. Also the XY shifter for the auto shift went out; couldn't start my truck for little while. Asked for breakdown pay (informed that it was 100 per day) and was told that I would be getting paid Layover pay instead (30 dollars every 18 hours). I am now begining to believe that the whole 10,000 at 5 years and 500k miles is B.S. as well. Unfortunatly I am going to have to stick it out with them for a little while longer (at least 9 more months) as everyone wants at least 12 months consecutive history and no gaps in driving. Currently I have right at 12 months, but I have been comming off of my truck in November (intemidated by driving in the winter.) This year I am going to have to face the music, and stay with it. I wouldn't mind another company that could get me home on the weekend as I don't want to be out there for 12-14 days and home for only 2. I would say that if anyone is seriously looking into going to this company, that they have good family atmosphere (we are always arguing over something) and respect you as a driver (don't run you more than 2100 miles /week.). Good luck. BTW, average pay for me is 600 and that is on a good week. mostly in the 500's.

Worked for Milan Express for three months and didn't do very well. The day time dispatchers will run you ragged to make money. Some was my fault at not being used to being OTR after 12 years driving local.Dispatcher had bad communication skills and payroll dept. is inefficient and poorly managed. You really have to make sure you cover your *** if you work for them. The owner is a great guy,but some of the people that work are a bunch of *$$0s.Talked with several people that worked inside quit because of how it was.Don't waste your time on them and work for somebody else, even though all trucking companies will have faults.

Well, things have taken a turn for the better here at Milan. I started driving for them back in July. I've been getting as many miles as I can run legally. I run electronic logs, they only have 50 drivers using them at the moment, but are likely going to have all drivers on it soon. I'm averaging around 2500 miles a week, and the pay went back up to .324 cpm. The reason for the pay cut last year was, if they hadn't cut the pay, they would have gone the way of Arrow trucking and closed their doors. They brought it up again as soon as things got better. They've also restored all paid holidays, and vacation pay. I like the company since I've been here, and I have no plans to go anywhere else. Everyone has to understand out there that with the economy the way it is, sometimes it's better to ride it out and come out good in the long run. Don't run at the first sign of a down turn cuz it ain't always greener on the other side. I've been in this business for 20 years as an owner op and a company driver, you have to be able to deal with changes as they come!

Oh, they do have owner ops again to. I don't know anything about the school at all. They also bought 70 new OTR trucks last year, all of em Pro Stars with 10 speeds. Hopefully that will continue because I hate automatics!

    Good luck and God Bless!

    Milan is still here.

They did sell off the LTL division to Vitran, but the truckload division is running strong. I'm running consistent 2500-3000 miles per week and getting home almost every weekend. I came back here after a bad experience with another company, and plan on staying around for quite some time.

They don't push you to run illegal, and I've never had a problem with them. The owner is working on getting new trucks sometime in the next year according the the company newsletter. If you're with them now, I'd say stay. If you're looking, check them out. I'm in truck 9008, so if you see me out here, just ask. I'll show you pay stubs to prove it!
