Sounds like your getting a lot of good training, lucky to be using a roll kit all the time.
Its expensive eating on the road and long haul is really hard on your health. Flatbed is good because you will get a little bit of exercise and tarping is better lol. I gave up long haul for that reason though, no tome for a life and the money wasnt worth the sacrifice.

Trainer is not smart if he didn’t tell you that bright lights create a Star Wars effect and you see less because you get snow blind . Once you’re more comfortable behind the wheel you can practice flicking the wipers with your left hand on slow speed to break off ice build up ..

Just a quick question, I’m new here and would appreciate any type of input. How on earth did you manage to land a flatbed gig with no experience, kudos to you!

Would you say you found it difficult to find your first job or were companies open to hiring new drivers?

Day 19 - Yet another day of local drops with my trainer. The trailer was already at the yard so we made our way to the Chatham area to start our drops. Mostly Ronas and Home Hardwares with plenty of space for moving around.

The trainer got pretty angry at me for reefing too hard on the straps with some of the freight. The thing is, this specific trainer, the local guy, doesn't really explain anything so I'm left to figure it out on my own. He also gets angry when you ask too many questions so its not an ideal situation.

An uneventful day overall. No issues with driving because the roads were cleared from snow. Before getting back we did a trailer switch and brought a new trailer to the yard. That was all for today! Lots of experience with the rolltight and strapping/unstrapping the same load.

Next week I'll be back with my original trainer for some highway runs hopefully.

I emailed the company and asked. They said to apply online then they called me in for an interview and offered me a job.

There's a few flatbed companies hiring new drivers in the GTA. Contrans is one of them. DeckX is another, though you might have to fly to Winnipeg for training.

Lots of places hire new drivers as well.. I would just email companies and ask. I probably went to 10 different interviews before deciding on my current place.

    GTA-Z Thanks this.

Solid info, thanks. Takes a good bit of stress of my head knowing I may have some options.
