Ended up not going up I-196 and just took I-94 over to 131 and across. That snow was the most unusual I've ever seen....sunglasses on one minute and then 10 miles of heavy snow and covered roads and then 30 minutes later it looked like it never happened. I pulled off when we were down to 20mph just to take a breather and 30 minutes later after a fleet of snow plows and the sun popping out we were running 60mph again. I tip my hat to the MI DOT crew, they flat got it done. Does the "lake effect" cause heavy, sporadic snow showers like that, because I've never seen anything like it?
