Banks lend their depositors money - not the federal reserve money. The trick is tmBanks are required to only have a certain level of reserves - that is set by the fed. the current reserve rate is 10% of deposits for large banks.
The bank only has to have 10% of deposits on hand at the end of each night - either in cash or on deposit at the fed. The bank may borrow from either the fed or or other banks to meet the requirement.

So say the bank has 100 billion in deposits and can make 90 billion in loans - seems straight forward, right?

well actually they can make 110 billion in loans if they go out and borrow 20 billion form other banks or the fed. They need only make more on the loaned money than they pay in overnight interest on the borrowed money.

The fed funds rate is the rate at which the fed will lend to banks - at the “discount window”.

An increase or decrease in the reserve requirement is one of the ways the fed can loosen or tighten commercial lending via interest rates - raise the reserve requirement and banks will have less money to lend or have to borrow more to cover the increase in reserve requirement. This if they have to borrow more that me means their loans have to pay them more to cover the underlying loan cost. Or reduce the reserve requirement and banks will have more to lend or not pay as much overnight interest.

    I hope this helps....

Wow, that lobe looks scored much deeper than mine.

I only took the one pic, but 4 of them looked about same. Visible, but very shallow. I asked about doing the overhead without the a new cam & they didn't want to do it. They said put it back together no adjustment & run it, or order parts. I did not say yes yet, I wanted to think it over. Maybe I should just take the gamble & run? Now you've got me nervous about them screwing something else up..

On the series 60, before you do anything just look to see if any rocker adjuster screws are sticking up taller than others. They tend to have valves sunk in the head with high milage
Always check that adjuster tips are there.

This is the updated style. Not normally a problem. But make sure that tip is on it.

Can't find a pic, but the original style was multi piece with a clip that would break and people that didnt check would adjust it and it would beat the hell out of everything.

Either way when you have alot of that thread sticking thru and above the rocker arm body. You need to look further into it.

You pull down a 150 lb clutch just to avoid rolling the motor over?

Yes but you dont have to. It will hang on that input shaft fine. Just dont let it slip back on you. Spin it on the shaft and use a torque wrench to tighten down.

@FoolsErrand. If your not confident, put long guide pins in. Slide it out, rotate and slide it one. One set of holes at a time tills it's at the bottom.

I will probably pull the bolts out and spin the pressure plate tomorrow first thing.. To delay the drudgery of having to pull the power steering pump and air compressor. The power steering pump bolt stripped out of the timing case and now leaks. I have to helicoil it. :/

Which way do i orient the throwout bearing? Flat edge up? Whos got a good clutch adjustment and breakin procedure?

I had guide studs and just couldnt get it onto them. Took guides out and set the clutch on bottom of bell then rigged the jack. From there it was easy.
