OP, I would like to hear specifics of your plan. What country are you going to? Do you have the other details of it ironed out? Sounds pretty cool. Don't let anyone rain on your parade; we're not splitting the ####### atom, we're driving trucks.

I just found this thread but if the guy ever comes back maybe he will see my post.

I think if you already have a CDL and experience then just about any company would be fine hiring you for a few months at a time. They usually have a few empty trucks sitting around and usually always need a few more drivers.

I have been out of the country for about 1/2 of the past 5 years and have came back to the same company 4 times and always sent back to orientation for a couple days instead of 2 weeks, always got a truck, and always got their bonus. One of these times I only returned for 5 months and collected the full 5000 dollar bonus then hauled ### back to my house and wife in the Philippines. Then came back 14 months later to the same job.

    insipidtoast Thanks this.

well I now passed the three year OTR mark. I’m still interested in doing exactly what you described, but maybe better off starting a farm/ecotourism business in my wife’s home country and being constant with it.

I’m concerned we’re in a different world today. Many drivers are out of work now (more competition for jobs) and international travel will be made more and more difficult.
