I understand that, but do you keep matched drives, and you run them down to 4/32s, how does that work when it snows? I would be sliding all over the map. lol

I just have 12 trips or so on my drives, but I didn't have them siped, if I hadn't wrecked it I was just going to buy another set and have siped, and either save these for summer or put them on my lgg truck.
I bought a truck for parts last week that has new drives though, so won't need new ones for a while. lolLepton1 and stayinback Thank this. -
I put 40some thousand miles on drives that had about 8/32 left when i got the truck. They were racing slicks when boss sent me for new ones about a month ago. Trailer is slick still but i cant be too mad about it. Boss has spent $19k just on rubber this year for 6 trucks and a fortune on all the other repairs. Its endless.

I will squeeze a nickel until the buffalo screams and am one of those “Comfy” 50 something 389 owners. There comes a point in my operation with tires that it just isn’t worth the potential savings by running down to 2/32 as downtime costs me much more than a set of new tires. I do keep some worn tires for spares usually for the trailer. The wife doesn’t really like it but at one time I had 6 used tires at the house in the garage and or basement. I am down to 1 currently but in a couple weeks it will be stocked up with 8 6/32-8/32 drives as I will be getting new drives. If it were spring I probably would run them on down lower. Even though I sometimes do my own repairs I don’t want the extra hassle in colder weather. I pull a small nail out of a newer tire it often doesn’t require a fix, I do the same thing with a well worn tire it normally is leaking.Last edited: Nov 17, 2019
