You don't have to be a lawyer to know your rights.
You also don't have to be a lawyer to know the laws governing our trucks either. I have had to show the dot the actual law more than once.

The proper response to “can we look in the sleeper” is to ask them for their DOT Inspection credentials.

If they have credentials, they should be given permission to enter the vehicle for required equipment inspection only.

If they don’t have credentials, the answer is “may I please see the warrant?”

Dot can not search your sleeper without a warrant unless you give them permission, which they will want you to sign a form for it. You should keep your safety equipment to where it can be checked from ground through an open door.

If they REALLY want to search your sleeper, or already think they have Probable Cause, they'll be telling you why they're looking and will go get their warrant.
Or, they'll have the k9 officer do an exterior walk and SAY the dog flagged.
Then they can go in with PC.

Here in lllinoiis you may as well let them look. I think the dogs are just calling it in these days? I’ve never seen a dog called to the scene that DIDN’T alert. Have you?

If they have probable cause, that suits a judge, yes they can get a warrant, they can't otherwise unless you let them
The only times they have ever tried to search me is when they wanted to meet their quota on their dog, which they have to do to keep getting the federal funding for the canine unit.
They can walk it around the truck without your permission. They usually get mad and run the dog around on a dead run when you refuse a search, at least that has been my experience, the only 2 times they have tried.
