Got a level 2 last week, in Louisiana got a citation for flat spot on a trailer tire. Also informed I’d receive and a fine in the mail, with Court info. Told Me I can pay or request a trial. Had Me worried, never been fined before. Anyway, today wife says the fine arrived, $25.00. I think I’ll just pay the fine. They got Me, guilty as charged. Anyone else ever get a fine for a safety violation, during a DOT Inspection? I’ve heard of it, just never got one. If so for what? In what State? And how much. $$$

Your an O/O aren't you? Before paying might want to call insurance and see if, and by how much, your insurance will go up.
Otherwise the CSA damage is done, so might as well just pay it.

. Yes I’m an O/O, with a good safety rating.
It’s pretty minor, I doubt it will affect anything very much. The one time I inquired about challenging a violation, it was for a flat ( less than 50 % air) tire in Ohio. That was OOS, filled tire, went on my way. By the time the Court trial date gets set, it’s over half way towards the 30 mo. time it stays on for. Hardly worth the time and effort. Unless it’s an unwarranted charge. But like I said, Guilty, they got Me. Fair enough.

    $25?

    Man you're lucky.

I did not think DOT would even click the pen to write the citation without it being at least several hundred dollars.

Yes sir- this year back in June- Fair Haven ,VT - Most of you wont know this route but- Rest area was "open" for weight- I went in Ms.Paul flagged me to weigh, Then she decided to do a level 2.....

I said "Come on, I really don't have the time" as I was in a hurry to get second drop in middlebury,Vt...
I didn;t have "last 8 days" only last 5....(I run paper) So she writes it up... Wasn't cheap $135 if I recall.

So dirty inspection, and im a certified Dirty Idle......She also made me stay 10 hours....Oh,I gave it to her good..
in a humble way...But I tell you this,Next Time up there....and she's in there, Im bringing her a dozen roses and probably get her to smile- Then I may Give her a good spanking for locking me down for 10 hours.....

    Little Bad Girl DOT.

    They fined on a warning?
That sounds like an actual citation.

I've been sick.. maybe I misread that.
$25 is nothing.. Could've been a lot worse.
Idk what any potential CSA points is on that.
    A flat is 10 points. Weighted at x 3,2,1.

    Dunno about a flat spot.
Gotta get @x1Heavy to get the Green Bible out and the CSA book.

Looks like most of the tire issues are 8 points. They might have written it up as belt exposed, or simply less than 2/32" Both are 8 points.
Here is a spreadsheet that lists all the points and violations. http://intranet.4linc.com/lincops/Portals/0/Docs/CSA-2010/CSA-Violations-and-points.pdf

Yikes. So that's weighted as 24 first year.
You can't DataQ a warning or an inspection, if I remember correctly.

    That's there like a tattoo.

I agree. It's odd to get a fine on a warning but I ain't saying it couldn't happen either. Half it was only $25.

And who is @x1Heavy ? Lawyer or expert on the green book? Theres always things I'm curious about trying to get clarification on. Some of that stuff is hard to read in my opinion, always good to have folks who know the lawyer speak so to say.

If your going to let that Ridiculous,Ridiculous CSA 2010 get you down...Dont.

All it is are opinionated citations and warnings that are difficult to appeal or fight.

It is vitrually Impossible for an inspector to NOT find anything wrong- You could be the Best of the Best....And still fall victim to a guy looking for Anything in the Book on 70 feet of Steel and Rubber.

I dont concern myself with CSA, And Never will- What I do concern Myself with is Following all Traffic laws 100%....Care for the Motoring Public 100%, Making other motorists around me feel "safe" with my driving habits..And Run my truck as professionally As I can.

Nothing else matters,Nor should Matter.......Your A human being- Not a Synthelogical electronic Robot that can Visualize and Repair the 136,743 Bolts,Nuts,Fittings,Harnesses and Obstructions that happen on a vehicle designed by others.....

If I dont make Sense- Then Its Not worth the Effort.
