So being that the oilfield in my area collapsed, I find myself at the bottom of the barrel again, doing otr.

Why do people still put up with being treated like criminals? Oh really, I can't take a dump while you take 4 hours to unload my trailer? Sure I would love to run on recap and only get 350 miles a day, that's worth living in a truck...

Seriously, 168 a week for most drivers is what they sacrifice for a mediocre job and poor pay. When are they going to organize and demand better? OTR really is a crappy living.

And I know, some super trucker gets 600 miles a day and earns 457k a year and sleeps in his own bed with a new blonde every night, but most really get screwed.

So why not pick up and move to an area where the oil fields are still booming?

Some of us prefer OTR vs. living in a man camp.
Sure, the money isn't as good, but still, taking home a grand or more a week is plenty for some of us.

There’s a reason oil field pays so well. Because it doesn’t last forever. It will always be boom and bust and they need the inflated wages to attract people to leave stable jobs when they’re hiring workers.

Lots of other things to do for a living.
Life is way too short to work at a job you hate, heck thee are even more oilfields, if a guy just has to drive a truck.

Sucks when life slaps you for living above means. I did it when I was young, learn from it & you’ll end up wealthy or happy ( one, the other, or both ). Continue to #####, life can always get worse.

That's true, I have done human service, but 12 dollars an hour for a BA isn't worth much, that's why I started driving.

Plan your dumps better than at a shipper/receiver? And most do have bathrooms.
And if you can only run 350 miles a day running recap hours, there is something wrong with your trip planning.

Also, no one makes you run recap. You can run as hard as you like and take a 34 to get the hours back, if that is how you like to run.

And how is any of that being treated like a criminal?

Being that I asked dispatch for a reset and was tOld just run recap. And 300 average is the loads being given.

I guess you are always treated with respect and courtesy when at the shipper receiver?. Most I have been to are not friendly.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Switch to flatbed, lot friendlier folks to deal with, no or few appointments, much better running, in my opinion.
