I have obtained my CDL Class A permit and am about to register (in December) either to Roadmasters or Tampa Trucking Schools (I'm in Tampa). Ideally, I would love to link unto with one of these "recruiters" they advertise about in order to have my tuition paid for. I am a bit nervous over this decision. I have shared this being a complete career change for me... Anyway, I just wanted to keep you guys updated to my journey...any feedback would be welcomed for I don't have to go on other than what I read here from you..
So here goes...

Werner owns Roadmasters so they'll try to get you to sign up with Werner.
Freymiller - www.drive4freymiller.com - is a good outfit; reimburses tuition back to you.
SRT - www.southernref.com - will reimburse up to $6K back to you.
Valley Proteins - www.valleyproteins.com - reimburses tuition.Adelmo Thanks this. -
Cypress truck lines might be an option

I just gave this "advice" on another thread, so I'll share it with you for my 2c and then I'm watching COPS.
If you aren't proficient ALREADY with backing trailers... Do yourself a huge favor and get or borrow an 8-10ft trailer and practice backing that thing with a car/pickup til you MASTER IT.
You will have a much easier time in training and when you're placed with a road trainer.
That's where most get to panicking.
That... and shifting a manual tranny.
Get ahead of the game.
It's like going to Basic Training in peak physical condition.
Trust me.Adelmo and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Tampa truck driving school has some garbage trucks (not that it matters I guess because you are just learning the basics in them) and are all auto from what I hear. Roadmaster has brand new Werner trucks they use so I'm guessing also auto but at least they are new. I've never seen a Tampa truck driving school truck out on the road so I don't know how much time you would get behind the wheel but almost every day I see a Roadmaster truck getting off 75 on to 60 in Brandon when I'm on my way to work so I know they are at least getting guys out on the road a lil bit. I would not want the auto restriction if you can avoid it, while it seems that most trucks are auto you don't want to limit yourself from maybe getting that perfect job you want that requires you to drive a 10 speed. Do you live in Tampa and if so what area? There might be a few other options in the area for CDL training.

Roadmaster is expensive. There are cheaper and better alternatives.
