I am in the process of transferring from Mercer to Bennett. I've heard about their south eastern freight and I'm curious how that compares money wise to other long distance freight and what kind of money guys are actually making and not what the recruiter recites off of a computer screen I have a '53' all aluminum flat, a 53' all aluminum flat/conestoga and a 53' dry van. -
I do work with all three companies from time to time as a broker. I enjoy working with them. Most of the agents I've dealt with have been good eggs, and I've yet to have a load go sideways. You could certainly do worse.

The loads on AMMF load board is that revenue after the split or before in the rate total.
I was thinking it was b4 but I was curious. -
So what is the covered wagon freight like over at Ace Doran? Currently lease on with Mawson Mawson. Not been to happy with my decision.

I will tell you this...As a carrier/Admiral merchants,Ace and Bennett is my competition.
Having said that Admiral merchants is a good company-Tom is fine Old man over there.
Ace In the hole Doran -Also very professional.
Bennett- I will No Longer Do business with as their Brokerage Dept does not honor their contracts to outside vendors.
I have 2 invoices showing DTP of 53 days and 44 days... Upon Collection,Its the usual Spatter of "Were waiting on our customer to pay us" Noise.
Now this has been over 24 months ago on these collections- Just the truth folks- And iof anyone doesn't believe me- I Will post Pro numbers Privately for those wishing to see...
I Do NOT recommend business with Bennett out of McDonough,GAbzinger Thanks this. -
Let me throw Kaplan Trucking into the ring, as well.
76% of line haul plus 100%of fuel surcharge and accessories. Trailer rent is $275/week or you can "lease" purchase a trailer for $250/week. Trailer prices are very reasonable. I was offered a 2019 Reitnouer 48'x102" with sidekit for a flat $50,000 all in, but chose instead a 2015 Reitnouer (same trailer, just a bit older) for $34,000.
The trailer price they show you is the final price, no hidden costs or balloon payment. And its $250/wk no matter which Reitnouer you choose. They also offer Macs, but I'm more familiar with Reitnouers and I like the 5 track J-hook set up available on them.
The sidekits are easily removable if you want to run open deck, just a couple of bolts on the bulkhead to pop out. I'm planning of taking my kit off in spring and running open deck until it gets cold again.
Plenty of steel mill work available, and I am seeing profit every week despite my winter laziness. Depending on where you are at, you could go local as well as regional and OTR. Completely up to you.
On the other hand, this IS my first as an O/O. I see Kaplan as a great outfit to work with, I've talked to a lot of guys who have been with Kaplan for years, and I may be a bit starry-eyed. But I have yet to deal with anybody who "ruffled my feathers" so to speak.
All the agents and ops people I've dealt with have been that perfect mix of friendly and professional that just makes the day go smoother. I'm sure the agents get frustrated at times dealing with my picky arse, but I don't do cheap freight or bad dead zones (looking at you, New England!) Nor have I had much trouble finding decent paying loads.
Generally, deadhead is what you make it. They do try to minimize, so I kinda throw a spanner in the works at times. I'm one of those goofballs that'll happily bounce for better money rather than sticking like a limpet on a rock to a saturated market. Again, I don't do cheap freight. My bare absolute minimum is $2.50/mile (Not to be confused with my cost per mile which is closer to $1.76/mile), cause I ain't running a charity for Corporate America here. And yes, I do meet and exceed that on a regular basis. But again, I bounce around and I typically stay out over weekends. Especially if I'm in a higher profit area. It's all about the money, honey!mp4694330, luddybuddy, whoopNride and 3 others Thank this. -
