We see that too. We've had a couple that are just a waste of oxygen. I could be in full on, dog#### mode and still be accomplishing twice as much as them.
We have our apprenticeships up here and you aren't technically supposed to work in a skilled trade unless you're an apprentice/journeyman. To my understanding, there isn't much of a barrier to entry to be a mechanic in the US. The way it was explained to me, anybody could buy a truck and tools and become a mobile tech. If that's true, no wonder we here so many stories on here about useless mechanics.
