superglue works wonders on even large cuts. you need a solid 20 minutes to clean, apply and dry it. once it’s done, it takes quite a bit to open it back up. reapply once daily for maybe 3 days. i’ve found the wounds heal much faster with glue, <1 week unless it’s really bad.

    D.Tibbitt and Lepton1 Thank this.

the most i’ve done on the job is broke my thumb. well, it was broken for me by another gentleman with a 4 lb engineers hammer. we knew what he did immediately. missed the steel rod, hit my hand and heard the snap. i cut my glove off at the days end and iced it.

i broke my hand once, at work, as well. worked 4 more days (on a drill rig, mind you) before getting attention. dr had to re-break it and decided it was best if he didn’t inform me until he had both palms on top of my hand looking like he was about to do cpr. i broke the other thumb, also, but it was just a fracture. nothing like the hammer incident.

drill rigs and associated activities are hard on the body. i have a laundry list of semi-serious injuries from drilling and food service, both.

apparently i’m not very smart, but i’m harder than a coffin nail haha.

I had a doctor tell me he was going to have to rebreak my foot, close to 15 years since I had broken it. lol I told him I was pretty sure he wasn't mean enough to get that done. lol

    D.Tibbitt, Lepton1, O.Henry and 3 others Thank this.

I had a screwdriver through my big toe when I was younger ( long story). They yanked it out, cleaned the hole, put bandage around everything, gave me a shot and a bag of antibiotics and painkillers and sent me home. No stitches. A few days later it was swelled up twice it's normal size and throbbing. Until my younger brother kicked said toe. Which then split open, and instantly felt much better.

    O.Henry Thanks this.

My dada was a carpenter, and as a kid, I must have =had a special knak for stepping on nails. lol
I jumped out of the back of the pickup after unloading some use dlumber once and stuck a nail through my foot. I had to wait for dad to come get me loose from the board. lol
I stuck a catfish fin through my hand once, I turned it loose, but it didn't fall. It just flipped and flopped, trying to inflict all the pain it possibly could. lol I had to hold my arm with my other hand and have a friend jerk it out. lol

The Dr's even use superglue. We used it all the time in the military.

Superglue was originally developed as an alternative to stitches. It's been in my first aid kit for decades and has come in handy.
