i got pulled over in alabama in 2004 for doing 73 in a 50 at 4:30 in the morning. The limit just changed from 70 to 50 and i didn't have time to slow down. the ticket was only like $150 but the funny thing is the date it happened. 04/01/04.....April fools day.

I once got a speeding ticket on my birthday, on my way to meet a girl. That coupled with the fact that I didn't get lucky made it a very bad birthday.:happy3:

In a Construction Zone makes it bad, being in any counties around Atlanta makes even worst. Any other place if the speed limit is 55 most will allow you to go up to 70 and not bother you, 71 is a ticket. (From a GA State Patrol own mouth that Pulled me over for doing 73 in a 55. (He still only gave me a warning.) I even had a Sheriff Deputy on 395/441 come over the CB radio and told me and another Driver we could pick it up to 70 in a 65 zone.

Pending how he reacted also with the Cop will bring on what the punishment comes. example. I had gotten pulled over in Toccoa Ga by a GA State trooper, who apparently had a Bad day already. What he pulled me over for was incorrect. He said I ran a Red Light and was doing 70MPH. I was doing 50 when I got to the Light and I had already passed my point of no return when it turned Yellow. Light was still yellow when I went under it. He was just coming over the hill on the cross road. I did not increase from 50 mph to 70 mph in 10 feet. Misty rain and a Light load with the road in a slight curve. Sorry if I tried to stopped, that trailor would have tried to pass me. I always tried to be respectful even when they are wrong, but if they give me an attitude, they will get one back. Well he started off with an attitude. I still kept my cool. Then he stated my charges, and I gave him an reply in his tone. Asked him would he perferred to work an accident instead with the Road closed because of my trailor would been blocking the road and the intercetion? After he gave me the ticket, he pulled out infront of a car which had to go into the on coming lane to avoid hitting him. If any body been coming the other way there would been some deaths from a head on collision.
He stopped to let me out, so I had 2 more lights before he would turn off going back to the Patrol Station. One light always turns red so I was ready for it. I did it intentionally made my trailor start around but did it so I could catch it. When I went to court and when they called me up, he went running to the Judge and wanted to change the charges. From the Red light and speeding to going to fast for conditions. (No Points)

Coastie, That’s a good story so few could appreciate with out saying that was dangerous move, and the what if’s. I’ve thought about scenario’s like that and never had one yet. The closest one where the cop was in the wrong and I seized the opportunity to let him know and everyone around know he was wrong. I was in Northern NJ, at a 4 way taking a construction detour, to the left and right was a blind turn, buildings blocking your view, and the road was closed straight ahead. I know this intersection and every time somebody crosses the white line blocking must needed turning space. Well I have to make a right, and I’m looking at the reflections in the storefront across the street and see smoky with his whole cruiser about 3 feet past the white line, waiting for the green I decided I was going to make him and the other 5 or so cars move, I took the turn just right so my tractor hit the far left lanes and grazed the construction barricades but leaving my tandems by the right curb then acted as if I just saw him and stopped so he had no place to go but backwards, and waited quietly while he and the other cars backed up to give me the room I needed. Not once did he even look at me to say sorry I made a mistake or learn how to drive ya big dumb truck. Now I could have made the turn by jackknifing the truck or curbing the truck and trailer, but no not this time, if one person drove off and remembered that for the future, that my point was made, using a cop to make it was priceless.
