Hey Guys. I have a international prostar with carrier apu and it has 1219 hours on it. Recently, it threw some black smoke out of the exhaust after that i checked the oil in it and it was down to add mark. I got my apu serviced at 838 hrs and its been 300 some hrs and its down to add mark. Is this something common? Is this cool?
Please any advice would help.
Thanks
Carrier apu

put oil in it and ride on. mine smokes a little on start up.

So if this keeps happening, just keep adding oil and let it be? It wont hurt anything? Like in a truck engine if u keep adding oil and keep riding, eventually it will kill your motor. In an apu its ok to keep adding oil and using?truckdriver31 Thanks this.

pre emission truck i use to have used a gallon of oil in between oil changes. my pick up uses 1 quart every 3000 miles. i add and ride on

Adding oil won't kill your motor. Except maybe if you keep adding different brands and types.
