Do the drivers EVER have any influence on the run destination or is it all out of your hands?

Meaning is there ever times you get to travel down south rather than up northeast at YOUR chance of doing so.

What has been your primary run in this years time you been w/ prime?

You said you had 5 days off, how many days out was that b4 the 5 off?

Im a company driver, no influence... I go where they tell me to go... I guess you can influence your direction when you give your reasonable request for hometime... (my FM likes a 7-10 in advance notice)

Ive never tried to tell my FM to run me in a specific area... I like being available for what comes my way.

As far as primary runs, none really... There are shippers Ive been to multiple times... some recievers too.

If I had to say what area I have seen the most, it would obviously be IL, OH, IN, MO... but thats middle America alot of freight moves in, out and across those states.

I think I had been out 10 weeks before I took time off... Entirely my choice to stay out that long. Ive been out of the house for a week now, I could go home in another 2 weeks if I wanted to... and if so I would request it next week.

Here are my half year numbers for 2009 (26 weeks)....

    52691 miles
    23 Days at Home
$19671 Dollars (Pre Tax and Bens) includes extra pay (drop, layover etc)

Factoring out 3 weeks of home time... I am averaging about 2290 miles per week for the entire year...

Factoring out 1 week of home time over the last 10 weeks and the average is 2450 miles/week.

For the year .022/mile in fuel bonus... and over the last 10 weeks .028/mile

I miscalculated on a previous post about my next pay raise which is .005/mile... with my current weekly milage avg, I should get that in about 8 weeks or so. It will also be about the same time I am elligible for a weeks paid vacation.

Ive started contributing to a 401k where Prime matches .40 for every dollar up to 5% of my pay, the first month I became elligible (1 year)

I was able to take more than 4 days off in a row last week... Long story short... partly because of the holiday, and partly because my FM has been holding my new CDL (with Hazmat) and wasnt able to get me through the terminal for a month. He said he sent it Monday last week, and the Springfield postmark said it was Monday this week. Anyway 9 days at home was too much.

I will have to get back to you later today on alot of this... I have to run.

But just because the truck can go 63 doesnt mean you are going to get 6.5

I get good fuel milage because I keep the speed down to 55-58... Primarily I run at 58.

1 day off for 7 days out... realistically you will be out for 3 or more weeks...

I dont get to the Northeast that much... There are guys who only run up in the NE, or get up there more often... but we do run a good bit of freight in the NE...

Ive only ever been on one load to Vermont... It was produce from CA when I was training.... team freight... so I couldnt tell you if any specific regular customers up there.

Like myself, you live in a freight "terminus" (i think thats the word) Frieght either begins or ends there... not much, if any passing thru. So you would be pretty much stuck with getting home only when you request it.

Ideally if I lived in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, KY, TN etc... there are plenty of loads where I could get through a house in those areas fairly easily for a couple hours or even a day depending how much time is on the load.

Yeah, living right off of I-80 in Indiana has worked out well for me. Sleeping at home tonight while my instructor watches the truck. Our IBP load from Dodge City had us spending the night here on our way to Pittsburgh. U2, gonna let us know what the trainers classes are like? Any skills tests?
