This thread makes it seem like lots of people are getting searched. I wonder how common it really is? I've been in an 18 wheeler or other delivery truck for almost 30 years now and been pulled over my share of times, never, not once have I been suspected of drugs, booze or even hinted at being searched. That said, I'm just a boring white dude who looks like your average Dad.

Refused a search in Mass years back once and was told "that's fine we'll just tow the truck and inventory it." Being an ### cost me $675 and about 3 hours wasted.
-
What was the crime that allowed them to tow it? Refusing a superfluous search is not a crime.tinytim and TheLoadOut Thank this.

You would think so, and i used to agree with that nothing to hide nothing to worry about line. but after agreeing to a random search that ended with my clothing laying in the mud on the side of the road and every side boxed emptied with my tools and tarps tossed all along the shoulder I don't consent to crap. Get a warrant.wore out, Midwest Trucker, tinytim and 3 others Thank this.

Had an insurance problem with company I was leased on to out of Chicago. Got a temporary travel insurance certificate and bob tailed to Maine to pick up a trailer. Hit the road heading back to La. Stopped to fuel in Mass while leaving out passed a trooper who noticed the not for hire signs and pulled me over. After explaining the situation he stated it didn't make sense that I was deadheading all the way to La that was awfully far and expensive and wanted to search for any illegal (drugs) activity. I refused and got hosed for it. Lesson learned. Search away

Because we're not willing to be harassed by cops on a power trip with no real authority to do what they're doing? Well, excuse me for expecting professionalism from our boys in blue.Dino soar, kemosabi49, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this.
