when i worked at the former NEMF, i worked nights, line haul. i shared the truck with the p&d driver.
i smoked cigars, had not only the windows open, but also the "vent" windows.
my co-worker at the time, was sensitive to the smell of the smoke, but he never said anything, as the truck was always well "vented-aired out"...
my last job, that i retired from, i smoke cigars as well, did the same thing with the windows, never any complaints.
heck, even my clothing did not smell of smoke.

Right, that's what I was wondering, if drivers vented out the truck. I sleep with the sleeper vents open every night and the windows cracked. Even on some occasions if it's perfect outside, it isn't uncommon to have the windows all the way down, depending on where I am at

when i did have a sleeper, i kept the vents opened, as i drove, and the curtain closed. this i tried to prevent the smoke from going into the sleeper, and it worked, but it also kept the sleeper fresh.
but i have had to clean up trucks that pet owners had, and dear god almighty, the pet fur into the tufted/tucked, back wall or in the bunk heater cage.
and yeah, smells of all sorts, not just smoke.....i was so glad to get out of the road driving and go regional/local for the day cabs....less area to clean, and keep clean.bzinger and Aamcotrans Thank this. -

As a former smoker ( 3 packs a day) I can guarantee you they do stink. The smell gets into EVERYTHING. And no matter how much you clean it the stink never really goes away. When I smoked I didn't notice it either, but everyone else sure does.Crude Truckin', 86scotty, bzinger and 2 others Thank this.

Article says 67% of truck drivers are smokers.
33% is a pretty small recruiting pool.
And they have to be willing to live with a interior camera.
Gonna get pricey to put butts in those seats.LoSt_AgAiN, D.Tibbitt, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -
Well if you smoke 3 packs a day, yeah, everything is gonna stink. I smoke a pack about every 1.5 days. At home, and drinking a little, that may increase a littlebzinger Thanks this.

Our truck didn't smell when we bought it. As soon as we removed the cabinets, it smelled like cigarettes for a few weeks. The insulation is like a sponge for smoke.
buddyd157 Thanks this.
