    Home - Drive Atlas

So I’m surfing around looking for OO companies to lease on. Came across Atlas. Website claims seem rather hard to believe. Light loads, mid 2k miles, yet good earnings. Fact or fiction?

Edit: Thanks for moving the thread mods

Followed your link and looked at it. Seems about right. If anything they lowballed the numbers a little.

Van lines have light loads, plenty of time to get there, but come up with there own different kind of bull #### you have to put up with. For instance on a no touch load. The driver might have to operate the liftgate, pallet jack to the ### of the trailer, or count and fold the blankets and straps. Or just sit in truck and do none of that.

Recommend talking to a Atlas, Mayflower, United, Sti, Logex, driver with a fold under liftgate. There are different divisions who do different things.
Do you want to drive 2000-2600 Miles a week every week (I dont)
Do you want to drive 15-1800 miles a week but do physical work. Loading medical machines and electronics.
Do you want to drive 2000 more or less miles a week. Have a 6-8am appt time but wind up sitting at convention center waiting yard for 6-8-10 PAID hours waiting to get loaded and unloaded.

If you havent dealt with van lines and thier own different kind of bullshiete. I would reccomend
1 STI (formerly north American and Allied van lines) stay there just till you understand tariff's, accessorials, van line B.S
2 next I'd say unigroup (United and Mayflower)
If by now you have learned the game. You should see a nice bump in pay.
3 lastly I'd go to Atlas (just my personal choice) but the way they start you with pay and charges escrow etc..sucks

    Tariffs? Yikes. Accesorials. Ok.

Recruiting says no household positions avail. I don’t have special freight experience so I can’t do that division either, so commercial truckload it what they have for me. Claim Fleet Average 2500 miles. I don’t believe there is trailer rental involved, forgot to ask. Says there are decals to apply. I’m thinking not small ones.

Well unless your a young man. Or bedbugging is in your blood. You dont want a household position. (27) years of that believe me I know what I'm talking about.
There blowing smoke about "special freight experiance" there putting you in the division they need ya. January they would be putting you in exhibit fleet, june it would be electronic or ltl fleet.
Commercial fleet division you should do about 2-2200 miles a week. (Not sure about accessorial pay) to many tariffs
NO trailer rent, free truck washes as long as you drag a trailer. About .35 off pump price.
If you make it thru the first 3-4 months or till your escrow is paid. Youll be loving it. Probably never pull for a non van line again.

Can't really tell ya much more. There are five major van lines. Atlas, United, North American Mayflower, Allied. I'm least familiar with Atlas.
