My carrier did that after the first oil change. (First one being at 100 to 150 hrs). Some where around 500 to 600 hrs mark I had to top it up. Haven't had to add oil between services since. I figured it was just the engine breaking in

Now next question is did you have a shop do the service for you? If so are you sure the oil level was up to the full mark after the service?

Mine for new goes low every 300 hrs. Has 1500 now.bzinger Thanks this.
-
Should be under warranty at 1500hrs .
Also probably not broke in yet .
I bought mine used with 7605 hrs on it so can't say anything about a break in period .
I run full synthetic 5w40 in it ...check it weekly and have never had it use any oil . -
Good point ! After mine was installed I checked the oil a few days down the road and it was a quart low .
Air head techs . -
Glad mine didnt come from your fleet lol.
-
Usually not Air head tech so much as rookie tech. Not usually the most experienced techs changing oil.bzinger Thanks this.

My Carrier APU has 38,000 hours on it. It uses about a half a quart of oil a week. Runs like a top.
