Just got one from the dealer. Inside is gray, soft and it feels like felt. How long will it last?

If that's OEM for your engine, buy a spare so you have it ready when you do learn how long the first one lasted.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
30 days or 30 feet, whichever comes first.

that would have been the time to ask questions on the quality and longevity of the belt, by putting the parts man in the hot seat.
maybe it's a covering to keep the belt warm in cold weather?
maybe it's a covering to keep it quiet, so you can hear everything else that's making noises under the hood?
if the parts man was asked questions, then you could have told us.
now you got me wondering, if my pants belt, made of artificial cow hide, came from an artificial cow, or a Freightliner parts manufacturer...
this is gonna kill me, till i find out.
maybe some of the other experts here can help me..????Dave_in_AZ and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
step.1 take the old belt with you always. step.2 buy new belt. step.3 put new belt on. step.4 crank up the truck. step.5 put truck in gear. step.6 hammer down

Naugas roamed our country in herds of millions until they were hunted to extinction by the large auto makers in the 60's and 70's for their pelts for interiors.
