I don't think you can to a certain degree. It's their job to lie. You joined the Army, I joined the Marines. Did they lie to you and me? Hell yes. It's all a matter of choice. Do you want to go to truck drivers school? Are there better companies than Central? Are you willing and able to be on the road for weeks at a time? These are just a few of the questions to ask yourself. Do your homework. Check other companies and compare and then decide.

With regards to knowing what is on your DMV - I can tell you that I honestly do not know what is on my DMV from 20-30 years ago. I got a ticket - I gave it to Dad - Dad gave it to the lawyers that worked for the family business - that is all I know. What happened to them, were they plead down? dismissed?

I know that I got a DUI (or something similar but called different back then) but I don't know what the outcome of that ticket was - it could have been plead down, dismissed, changed or altered. I think I would remember if I lost my drivers license - but then too, I could have lost it and the lawyers dealt with it.

Things were different back then - Today, it has now come back to bite me in the butt. The good news is that in the last 20-25 years my record is clean, an occasional speeding ticket, parking ticket; none of the stuff that I did in my early 20's.

Mountain, I was just down at the Drivers License Division in Salt Lake yesterday and got a copy of my driving record. It cost me $6 but my new employer wants it when I go to see him today. You could go that route.

Wow, techiekate29, your posts are awesome and extremely informative. You sound like you have an excellent attitude and a great desire to succeed. I have read a lot of posts on this and other sites and it seems to me that a good attitude and desire to succeed are critical to making it in trucking. Thanks again.

I just went a did a rider policy 10 days ago for Central. You fill out the forms for insurance which is good for a year, then they deduct $126 one time fee from your trucker. Mine has only been on the road a couple of months and they didn't have a problem with it.

Hey Techiekate! Thanks a million for the info! I have just contacted Central about getting in to school. The economy has slowed my business to a crawl, but I am not about to just sit by and start loosing things. Besides, I have always thought about this industry. Keep us posted on your progress, and the BEST of luck to you!

    TechieKate,

Thanks a million for the info. Keep us posted on your progress. I am looking into the industry because the economy has slowed my own business almost to a stop. I have contacted Central, waiting to hear back from them.

Again, thanks for such a great post. The very best of luck to you, and God bless you!

    Michael
