I was working days doing p&d and still it wasn't doing it for me. Not every job is a for for everyone and then even when it is things can change and people wanna do something else. Take UPS as an example. How long have you worked for them? 20 years here, seen a lot of changes, it wasn't for me anymore so I moved on and life has gotten much better. It sounds like @McUzi really isn't going to be happy there no matter what. Me and @Banker are living proof that there is a life outside of a few select companies. Coca cola is awesome, I get to make my schedule pretty much whatever I want now and they have me try out pretty much every job they have.

Which is likely the end result of my scenario, which is unfortunate, because I love the work, I generally like the company and I like the guys I work with, and I was making grandiose plans of running at this company for years until retirement. I think it's a small chapter of my youth and naivety continuing to subside as I get closer to being middle aged.

I was the same exact way. Reading your posts sound exactly like my experience. When I got to where you are at now every single little thing turned into a big problem because I was just mad....that's no way to go thru life. It was a blast while I was there and there are certain aspects of the job I will always miss (mainly the customers when I was in a package car) but overall it just wasn't gonna work anymore and I was able to move past it and do quite well for myself still. You will be able to do the same if you decide that is what's right for you.

That's one frustrating thing I have definitely noticed already in my short time here. Hubs have way too many drivers and they will do anything to keep them on the road, even if it means screwing over drivers from another center by leaving them on the dock or staying home. Even hub city drivers get first dibs on road runs that should be going to other road drivers in the hub group. That's part of the reason I'd eventually like to transfer to a hub. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I know it really sucks if u r young and can hold on until u get a daytime route than this job is great, especially how easy it is and the pay but me being in my late 40s now I don’t think I want to waste the time of about 7 years at our yard to become days. The other thing tho I was running days for quite a few weeks and than like 4 or 5 people quit for various reasons and now I’m forced dispatched out at night to cover runs because we don’t have enough drivers and those people that quit were behind me so it really sucks cuz I used to pass on most of our night runs especially down to phoneix cuz we have to work the dock on that run. We will hire the people back but going into the winter I will be running more nights on the extra board. Not to mention when u have a Friday night run it just ruins ur whole weekend sleeping all day Saturday and than having Sunday off and than having to basically be up from 5am to 9am on a Monday in case they call me being that I’m on the extra board. It’s hard to win in trucking lol

@hermyinaz daytime linehaul doesn’t exist at end of line centers in the northeast and the closest hub to me is about 130 miles from where i live so its night time forever at this gig until I transfer, leave or switch to the city board.

I’m waiting for the cryo company to submit a formal written offer to me before I do anything.

For some reason, FLG seems to chew up drivers and spit 'em out. Plus side is, more turnover means you move up quicker..

Daytime runs aren’t all there cracked up to be. Your working at least 13 hours a day. So you start at 7 am and you’ll be back in your car at 8 o’clock. That’s for like a 500 mile run. There’s a lot more people out during the day which means a lot more traffic. Takes a lot longer than driving at night. There is some nice day runs out there but few and far between. And they don’t pay that well if you only want to work about 10 hours. Better off working city if you have to work 13 hours IMO. I’ve talked to numerous guys that could hold a day run and they choose to stay on nights for the above reasons.

Oh I’m sure it’s worse than the Chicagoland area.
