I've got a 2011 Mack with the MP8, power leash works very good. I run western states quite a bit, no problems holding loads close to gross on steep grades. I don't have anything against Volvo's, But the MP8 does have a different head, engine brake, and yes ecm programing is different.

I just started driving a mack MP8 with a power leash with a 13 speed, and I like it. Lots of power, and forget about using it empty...... it will almost lock the drives.
I have hi and low, so that helps over the single stage.
I was pulling quad axle trailers with only Michigan weight, so around 100,000 gross. Nothing serious, and no steep hills, but the performance was good.
This week I get to try Tn hills and only 80,000 gross. Can't wait!

camelback is the same suspension since the 40's and 50's the M ride is nothing but Volvo's T ride. That being said its not a bad suspension its actually the best part on a VHD

I just started driving a day cab Mack Pinnacle this week, pulling tankers. It is one year old. My boss does not use the engine brake, but I think there are times it would be helpful to use it. Can you tell me which buttons activate the engine brake? I tried using the two buttons on the right side of the double row of buttons on the dash, but could not tell if I had activated the engine brake. There are engine symbols on the two buttons, but not much hint which one is the ON/Off button. Thanks.

Hey Pumpkin, sorry haven't gotten back to ya sooner, not on here much lately. My Dog has two switches for the engine brake, the one with the engine is a two way switch, up = on, down = off. Next switch is a three way, up is latch = engine brake on as soon as I take my foot off of gas pedal or shut the cruise off, middle is auto, when speed gets to four mph over set speed engine brake comes on.Bottom is a set switch to set the power leash speed. Hope this helps if you haven't already figured it out.
