Trying to figure out the best way for me to get started, i recently switched from being otr switching to pilot/escort. I currently have my million insurance, all the equipment required and im certified for oklahoma. Looking for insight on how to find loads, cant seem to find an active load board.

It might take a while to get established. Every OS company I know has a list of horror stories about pilot car drivers and they'll be cautious about you at first.
Be on time, be helpful when you can, have all your stuff and extras. Find out what the driver wants and how he wants it done.
Be patient. If you're good and if you don't cause any problems the work will come. The word about a good pilot car driver gets around fast.FoolsErrand and blairandgretchen Thank this. -

Not sure if I should start a new thread or just continue here as it relates to pilot cars. Each pilot car driver I worked lately want to get paid big $$$ for everything. NO GO just bcs it is 2 hours before sunset and no place to park if we will start rolling. Another one wasn't happy (even we agreed on a meet time at 2.30 PM and I arrived at 2 pm) and we drove 100 miles he wants a daily rate. No suggestion where to park (if you want to keep rolling). Sent him permits 2 days ahead, still was asking me questions about a route. If you are a lead pilot car driver and you are getting paid PLEASE do your job. Don't ask me a question like "are we making a right turn here or next one?". I do know my route, I do know my permits... I don't call a broker to ask him how to properly load my trailer. That is my job and Im getting paid for it.
TripleSix, FoolsErrand and Oxbow Thank this. -
You tell him to be there and he shows up but then you don't leave. That's a no go fee. You didn't go when you said you would.
Asking to verify turns should never be a problem. I often call turns out to my lead cars and they do the same so we can check each other and not end up off route. Communication makes everybody's job easier. I'd much rather they ask me about every turn than hope they got it right and lose them because they made a wrong turn. Everybody makes mistakes.TripleSix, LoneCowboy, beastr123 and 3 others Thank this. -
how about a flat rate before we start, that’s what I get, or do I get no go pay while I help them fix their car or radio or lights. I have bought radios and antennas several times, lost a day when their car quits and had to listen to them cry when I get a replacement.
Had pole cars show up without a tape measure. it goes on and on.
Last month I picked up a second car and she was very pregnant.
