I have been cautious around 4 wheeler traffic my whole career. Never trusting the little boogers. Those big billboards for accident lawyers don't pay for themselves.

I know a couple of drivers that have mounted GoPro cameras on the side of their trucks in case anyone else tries to pull a stunt like these jackholes did.

About 20 years back in Vancouver, BC area there were a couple people running around in a car with a smashed windshield. They'd follow a random truck, flash their lights and sound their horn to get the truck to pull over. Passenger in the car would run up and steal the passenger side fuel cap. The driver would claim the fuel cap came off and wrecked their windshield. I seem to recall they just wanted a couple hundred bucks to cover the windshield deductable (ICBC typically charged a $200 deductable for windshields).

There are multiple gypsy gangs all based in LA. They'll hit Dallas for a few month, go back and count their money. Then OKC, then back home. Wash, rinse, repeat.

thing is, those are portable...meaning.."steal-able" any time the truck is parked, either at a rest area, truck stop, even at a customer.

the cameras i'd be suggesting is built in, much like the back up cams on nearly all cars/light trucks nowadays.

i see this happening first with the large carriers, since they have more money, then this will trickle down, and would not surprise me one bit, if the insurance industry demands it.

They usually removed them at the end of their duty day.;) If they had no issues then they deleted the footage.
