Adding my haz mat endorsement after dropping it many yrs ago. What would be my best option to make that income with no haz mat exp. I was thinking Air Products or Praxair. Thanks

As a company driver with no exp you are low man on totem pole for a while.

It will be a while before that kind of income rolls in. Don't set your expectations too high.

Hazmat makes no difference in pay. Its the same either Bombs or Potato chips.

It depends on where you live. 100k+ is available at air products for team drivers. But sometimes local guy will make less than that if the service area isn't big enough.

In a market like Chicago or Houston 100k locally is no problem. But a place like Orlando make bring in 75k-80k locally.

    Look into places like
    Nalco
    Univar
    Suez
    Air Products
    Old Dominion
    FedEx freight
    Estes Express

Not having any hazmat experience isnt a big deal as long as you have a good amount of driving experience in general. Many of these companies want to train you "there way" after being hired now anyways. $100k a year may be a bit tough in many areas but high $70ks or even low $80ks is very doable. The good thing about these jobs is you don't have to kill yourself for that kind of money. Air Products was a good company to work for years ago. Not so sure about now. I know several guys who had many years in with them and left because they were miserable there. I've also seen them advertising for drivers with sign on bonuses recently. That was unheard of.

Really depends on your location. Here in the NW it’s very doable. I got into it through Air Liquide with no tanker or hazmat experience. I’m at Messer now (was Linde not long ago) and we’re a union location. Over here it’s one of the highest paying hazmat gigs along with a few other chemical companies.

    Nope in what?

If you think you are going to walk into Poobah express inc and demand 10 more cents a mile waving your Hazmat endorsement with a high pair of boots, they will laugh you out of the building. You watch.

Not to try insult you here, but a friendly debate, but you sound seriously outta touch with trucking. Are you a current hazmat driver with twic?

You are wrong. Theres a local company in my area hring that pays you a higher cent per mile if you have a twic and hazmat. Fact

High pair of boots? I knew a driver who walked in wearing flip flops and a tuxedo t shirt with a hazmat endorsement. They offered him McKesson team rate plus 10 cpm and he took it. He left the parking lot doing a wheelie in a 2020 Cascadia.
