any good companies hiring from greater Grand Rapids area of Michigan?

    Just wondering if there are any real good trucking companies hiring from the greater grand rapids area of michigan. I find it funny how so many companies come here all the time but don't hire here. sorry, no swift, wernner, schinider, j.b hunt pls, i am looking for a real company, i have morals and values. I have a clean DAC and DMV and pretty solid work history, just want to be able to take care of my family and not have DOT on my back becuase of ISS-D score or down all the time because of poor maintained equipment. would love to get into a nice pete. I have applied to McVan Kampen, Van Eerden, Kolistceo, none are hiring, been laying drivers off. Thanks for any info.

    a acceptable ISS-D score or safestat score as most know it as, anything below 70. once you hit 70, get hassled to much. I run safe and legal, so not worried about my log book, but everytime you get pulled in, it just costs you time, which costs you money, none of us get paid to sit in the scale house. thanks

    Have you tried ALTL? Havent talked to a driver lately but most that i talked to were happy with them, most runs were out and back for a couple of days at a time. I know they take care of their equipment, they use to service our trucks and they didnt miss a thing with them.

    There is a company on the south end of town called Sunset Logistics, dont bother seeing them.

    Hey recon try a co. called GO-TO Transport. I spoke with the recruiter today and they have a terminal in Grand Rapids. Here is there # 1-866-366-4686. Hope that helps out a bit.

    I used to work for ALTL about 7 yrs ago. They always have an add in GR Press. They are not bad , but they lie to your face about things. Its funny how they have a guy who is opperations manager who never been in a truck before.

    Yes, the garage guys are great. Have a problem, they will get to it asap. They do run alot of east coast, and New York City with Steelcase

    Preffered down on 76th at the truck wash is another i would stay away from.


    What about EverFresh? They are near 32nd and Eastern back in the old Parker Motor Freight terminal.

    Not sure about Ever Fresh. I do see alot of their trucks around. I was going to contact them but have not done it yet.If you do let me know.

    Hey Recon, Grassmid Transport out of the Zeeland area is hiring. No Pete but I think all of their trucks are classic XL's and I believe they run all 48. There is also Boyer Express out of Muskegon. Try mlive.com to get more local trasportation jobs and contact info.

    well, grassmid is on D.O.T's crap list. the wife and i have called over 75 companies in last 2 weeks, o we goto michigan but sorry, we don't hire from there or not anymore. this sucks. my feeling, if your not going to hire us, state out of my state and let us hual our own frieght.
