It's so simple. Just put a second name on your e log and when you ran out of hours just switch to the other one. Like being a team without a codriver. I know a guy who's running like this.

Amen. Makes me wonder, if John Q public read these posts, would they side with us and write letters to their Representatives? Or the greenies, if they knew how much fuel gets wasted beating my clock all day long? Then I laugh myself to sleep.

Try living in Canada with our elog rules. 75km per day limit on personal conveyance. I live more than 75 km from any shop. Or company yard for that matter. So what am I to do when MY truck requires servicing while I’m on my 36 hour reset? It’s a ridiculous system that is slowly forcing one truck operators out of the industry.

Well, if you are driving the truck to be serviced, even in Canada that should be on duty, so you log legal would be my guess.

Really? Why should my earning potential be compromised? When a factory worker drives his pickup to work, he isn’t told you drove for the purpose of work, your allowable working hours are going to be knocked by that time. And btw, you don’t get paid for it. If the common public were made to follow the rules imposed on us, all in the name of safety, we’d have mass uprisings and protests. On second thought, maybe that’s what needs to happen!
