Yeah that thing is sweet. Fit ya a big ol radiator in that son of a gun.!
Hey on the heat subject. I'm pretty sure my Detroit had 180° thermostats in it, well because that's where it tended to run. Just had the coolant changed over to red, & the now the truck runs about 190°. Think the shop put the wrong ones in.? Is this going to mess anything up since its been used to running at a lower temp for the last 32,814 hours? Ecm mileage wouldn't show, but clock is 1,030,000..
Where is everyone #5

Red doesn't carry the heat as well as green coolant. It's a little for a better word thinner than green. But it spreads the heat out through the system quicker. I wouldn't worry. You don't get the electrolysis with red coolant. I run one 180 and one 195 t-stat in mine. Keeps it at a more stable temp. Diesels run more efficient at higher temps.

The hamster spinning the wheel in my pea brain was get'n wound up, LoL.. Was thinking the metal's in my engine were used to a certain temp, & may cause some ill effects like leaking gaskets or something.
I'm gonna give meself an aneurism. Gotta stop thinkin so much..

Learned that the hard way. Engine can be be pulling the hills like a raped ape... and suddenly BOOOM! You cooked the rears. Or grenade the transmission.
Now, I’m paranoid. Can’t drive listening to music in the hills. Driving around with the windows cracked, sniffling the air watching the gauges, hoping to catch whatever before it blows up.Rideandrepair, 1951 ford, beastr123 and 20 others Thank this. -
Honest to Pete, I was thinking the exact same thing. I was going to comment but no need now.1951 ford, peterbilt_2005, Feedman and 13 others Thank this.

I like a good deep bedding of straw, particularly in the basement (pot), the cut over the drive wheels and the cut over the tandems , because this is where the heat emanating off the pavement enters the trailer. The straw being hollow -stemmed acts as an insulator. The huge downside is that if you wet it you just started the composting process, add in urine and manure and in no time at all you've created your very own gas chamber. Get stuck in traffic with no airflow, hot pavement, stressed pigs and a bonafide reason for someone to call PETA.
sometimes no bedding is better. Each day requires it's own strategy with hogs. Everyone is stressed. Even the sellers and buyers. It's a sh..ty business.
