Last week out I encountered a Swift driver as I was fueling my truck. He was highly ticked off because the DOT just stopped him because one of his trailer air lines was dragging. They had him get it fixed or fix it before he could continue his trip. His remark was IT WAS ONLY DRAGGING A LITTLE BIT,AND THEY SHOULDNT HAVE STOPPED ME.True story.Guess this is the kind of mentaliity Swift is looking for.

westside transport is bad for this also. as in poor quality and poor condition trailers. they bought and used everybody elses old used up trailers. wasn't all bad of a company if you didn't mind running illegally occassionally.
-
guess he would have rather waited for it to lock down or drag a hole in the service line and have no trailer brakes
-
i guesss the "pre-trip inspection" was too much for him to do BEFORE he started his trip. now, if the air line support spring/hanger had broken during the run, then i could see he not know that, until the next time he pulled over to "squirt the dirt", which he still should have done a quick "look-see" before going again.
at least, this is what i've been known to do, each and every time i pull over for a "quick relief squirt"............. -
It also may have just popped off. They do that sometimes. The worst time for this to happen is the service line coming off just before you start down a mountain grade.

i think i took it that the original poster meant to say the airlines under the trailer were dragging...??? which will happen at times, as we all have seen, and the DOT cop made him get it fixed..?? as for the glad hand popping off, that's does indeed happen as well, as its happened to me.

Ah yes, hadn't thought of that. You're probably right.
-
It does happen but rare,Thank God.

Swift is as good as any large carriers.
