Hello all. We have been dealing with the same 2 brokers for about 5 years. Same loads every week like clockwork. Until a few weeks ago, one of our brokers lost the load we were on. So we have had to use different brokers lately. We would always turn in the signed BOLS, lumper, rate con, and invoice. But some of these other brokers are requesting all the above plus POD. I got one online, but out of the last 8 loads, only 1 reciever has actually signed it. The rest will not sign, and say something like we dont sign or even know what it is? Am I missing something?
    Thanks.

Thanks. That's what I told two brokers, and they said no. We may just stay away from those two.
    Thanks

That is a new one. The BOL has always served as POD for me.

The Bill Of Ladening is YOUR legal document to prove you have custody of that load, they have to accept it as proof of delivery.

IF someone refuses to sign the BoL, then ask them their name, write "refused to sign", initial it with the date and move on. If they give you grief, just let it go and let the broker deal with it.

    Krhaulin Thanks this.

Well...it is hard to believe that they could be such fools after all. You said "signed BOL" but was the signature on it only yours or the shipper's and was there also the signature of the receiver? You said only one BOL was signed by the receiver.... so that's not good, all of them should have been signed.
BOL turns POD only after the receiver signs it. The signature should without any doubt mean that the cargo was received.

    Krhaulin Thanks this.
