Between 1,800 and 2,400 is the norm...thats running legal. I have seen better weeks though with a few up around 2,800 (this week for example), but its hard to get those kinda miles running legal...it wears me out. (must be gettin old early)
I don't actually have 2,800 yet...I gotta deliver this one in Moline tomorrow...then I'll have 2,800 miles.
And I hate to say it (no ...not really) but I don't blame you guys for having 2nd thoughts....Maverick is as good as any trucking company out there (better than most), but .36 cpm is not enough to get me out of bed in the morning.
I was just lucky enough to get back in before they dropped the pay.

Well, I remember when I started with Maverick that the miles averaged 2500-2900 per week, but after the 6 month period; it dropped to about 2000-2300 per week. Avg norm is about 2000-2300 per week right now and some weeks are better than others. Please keep in mind that there has been a definite affect by the economy on trucking as a whole. But I do agree with another blogger that .36cpm to start; especially having to tarp in inclement weather, would not be desireable and I could understand this.

I had topped 3000 miles a few times, but was steppin and fetchin. I use to run hard, make good money and get home on weekends then the bottom fell out on me and I started staying out 3 weeks at a time and my miles fell at the same time. I figured it would pick back up, but my last 3 outings was 3 weeks at a time and I said time to do something else. I think the avg for everyone when I quit was 1800- 2000

JCRS98,
Sorry that I could not get back with u sooner. I believe that notarps has answered most of your questions. All of Mav trailers have storage boxes under them--between rear tandems. All of Mav trks have storage space for all needed items on head-rack, not on catwalk. Catwalk must remain clear of any obstructions per DOT reg. Orientation would last 1 week for you since you are experienced. Living in Il is a plus for you! Mostly live load/unload. Home most weekends... Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Baack Thanks this. -
My tarp boxes was in front of my spread not in between???

Most companies have had to adjust their spending with this economy. Compared to most of the other large carriers .36 cpm is not too bad this still gives you over $700 per week gross on 2000 miles, with tarp pay you will be in the neighborhood of $800. The 1800 to 2400 average is pretty accurate I live in northern Indiana and average closer to 2400 and get home weekends 99% of the time. Maverick equipment is top shelf with tarp boxes on the trailer (Notarps is correct boxes are in front of the axles),headache racks mounted on the tractor for chain and binder storage, and they really stay up on their PM. There are no dump valves on the trailers which can make backing spreads interesting sometimes. Treestand

Thanks dannyboy, notarps, and hoosierhunter for the wealth of information you have shared with me. I have narrowed it down to Maverick or another company based out of Quincy, IL. I'll keep in touch and let you know what I decide. Really the only thing that makes me interested in the other company is they pay for the family insurance. I'm sure I need to ask a dew more questions because there has to be a catch to it. Probably a very high deductible or very high copay. They start at .35 a mile. Thanks.

You are welcome. I have met a couple of these mav posters on here. I can also vouch for the company. I did leave, but it wasn't because mav was a bad co. I just got to a point where it was not working for me. Had I stayed on ( I was there 2 years) things would have went back to normal with my home time and pay, when freight picked back up, but I had a lot of repairs that I needed to make at home from the ice storm we had last winter. Any time you see a guy posting positive stuff about a co he no longer works for it speaks volume for the co.
There will always be people that say well all that driver wants is a driver referral. I have never posted anything on here for my gain, but to help others and have a good time with my friends on here. I have nothing to gain from maverick as I am no longer there, but yet I have not changed on my view of them. Point I am trying to make is very few co's are worth mentioning as above and beyond, but maverick is to this day the best co I have ever pulled for. -
yeah brother, I wish you the best but.....if it turns out your new company doesn't work out I hope you'll be in a position to give them another chance. If not I hope I bump into on a dock somewhere in the future.

Since you brought it up...

Anything I say about Maverick on here is 100% true to the best of my knowledge...and is in no way me "workin" to get a driver referral.
I'll tell the good with the bad...but there really is very little "bad".
