I do like ECM motors a little bit more for a couple of reasons. Little Bit better fuel economy,If you have a driver or someone else in it they cant screw it up like a mechanical motor (Lug it too far down like below 1100,ECM Cats like there lower RPMs. 8v92 all I can say is VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMM CLICK VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM CLICK VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LMAO Nothing like a 2 stroke Detroit to wake ya up eh !!!

    I own a 3406E. It’s been good, but I’d rather have a S60.

I was issued one of those Es for a while and I have to say yes, it was a eh... nice little engine. for what it was back then for a few months. I just liked the old mechanical cat much better. Like the one on the back of my cab with 4 wheeled front end scoop loader CAT 936 model. You could finesse it and get it to boost the pumps to lift that rock and sand to fill a wine glass if you needed to. A little dab and a gentle tip. That kitty would be purring just enough to boost the hydraulic pumps.

Computer engines whine too much like weed eaters. No character or personality. However I quit complaining long ago.

I spec every truck that we purchase and put into our fleet. I wish I could say put a 3406E or C15 5EK/6NZ.... anyone who’s been building/spec a truck with knowledge of there industry would not disagree. But I live in 2019 going into 2020. And the “laws” state I must build a truck being compliant to standards of the new age. With that said, I go with the X15 in all our truck and on with future builds due to its reliability at the moment. And also every major and some smaller city’s our trucks haul thru have a Cummins Dealer ready to take a look at what problems may be at hand. They teach this new stuff to the new kids all day everyday at schools so there’s always some kid wanting to get his time in to become a “someone” in their trade.
Now finding a reputable Cat dealer/mechanic to take a shot at our trucks with say the 6NZ with non epa compliant ECU or one spec’d for a D10 Dozer available at any given time prolly won’t happen.

a lot of people don’t really have or simply haven’t had a chance to try out other motors or set ups to make a final call on what they like to drive. Give me a Big Cam 4 with a 13x4 behind it and I will put pull some of these guys who talk HP but lack experience in gear ratios and simply experience.
Every type of trucking/hauling is different. No one motor is better/superior to the other given it’s application. Can’t fit a 15L where a C12 has to go. We can go on and on with motors all day but some of these guys probably never had to shift 18. Dare I even ask if they know how to shift a 2 stroke 5x4?
