Hey there. Been with SWIFT for a year +. Time for truck depends on your division and terminal. I work heavy haul out of Sumner (Seattle, Wa.), which is Costco dedicated and very busy. I waited 2 days and had my 1st truck ( 03 Freightshaker). Fair warning: go over your "new" truck with a fine toothed comb. I found numerous problems with my rig. Get on good terms with the shop guys. Also, keep talking to your DM. Do the "favor" runs, but make sure they know that you expect the "favors" returned. Not enough money? Talk nice to DM, ask for unloads and splits to increase pay. You will probably be broke for the 1st 3 months. Invest in a cheap crap laptop and the program Daily Drivers Log. This will keep you out of over hours logbook classes where you're wasting time. Keep the griping to a minimum, but don't take a bunch of crap.
I wish you the best of luck and safe runs. -

You might want to check the dates on the threads you read. The thread where someone was 86 was back in Dec or Jan I do believe.
And it's true, it varys terminal to terminal. -
Thanks for you replays, I did know that post was a few mouths old I just was looking for a update. I have know idea if get was getting better or worse

I didnt have to wait long at all. The same day I took my road test & written test I got my truck. Do go over your truck with a fine tooth comb however. MY DM & I both looked over it and got me my load locks and all necessary equipment that same day. I was lucky enough to have landed my Mentors DM,which is good for me. So I know I wont sit too long.
I am out of the Denver Terminal. -
one question. do you get to take the truck home when off?

TO the gent working out of the Sumner terminal, I live in Lakewood and am considering making the move to Swift, I was a convoy driver for KBR in Iraq and am curious how hard it is to get into that heavy haul out of Sumner? Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Also do you know if Swift works with anyone whose license had been suspended for a failure to pay ticket from a few years ago? My DMN is clean other than an overweight and failure to secure.
Thanks. -
I had a suspension for failure to appear in 2004 and Swift approved my DMV
acr1stlt Thanks this. -
Thanks a bunch. Seems #### near impossible to get a job driving since I got back to the state. Is it me or is it just a bad time for drivers? It also seems I am being rejected because of my job with KBR, I mention it or they see it and ask me and before I know it I am being told 'Don't call us we'll call you!'. Thanks for your help...you still driving for Swift?

I am talking with a recruiter now and I asked him that question. I realize that a recruiter will tell you anything to hook you but he informed me that a new driver should not have to wait more than a week at this time and one might be available the day I would finish orientation. I take it all with a grain of salt...I was not born yesterday.
