Looking to purchase a 2015 Prostar 310,000 miles with the Navistar N13 engine for 37,000 . I was told from a few people the N13 is more reliable than its predecessor , the Maxxforce. Good or bad buy?
2015 Prostar N13 engine yes/no

The N-13 may be good? Reviews on engine sites..posts may be informative. Me personally, would not get one. If at all possible talk to someone that has one(or more). Your on the correct forum here, but even that is always up for debate. I know, think, not long after the maxforce blunder the N engine line appeared. Is it a maxforce with lipstick? I like to go with something that has been proven in its track record. Imo.

Wasnt the maxxforce problem fixed in the later models and those with cummins emissions garbage?
stillwurkin Thanks this. -
I think they did and are trying to make them better. All the engines with emissions seem to have issues. Should say any engine can have issues. But i just like to put the odds more in my favor, if possible.

Can get them from lone mountain for 20 if you have cash.....better choices for 37k in my opinion

Here in Ontario the gov. doesn't use #13 for highways roads numbering, builders also skip floor # 13.
Never been superstitions, but over past 12 years i owned 2x Volvos with D13 motors , din't bring me too much fortune to be honest.
Get a DD15.
