I know what you are saying. That is why I said what I did. Those that post about maverick seem to be in 2 classes. New guys that have tore up so much stuff and got fired and blame everyone but them. Not knowing the difference between a good or bad company and exp hands who know the difference.

That is true...Maverick still pays better than most other companies (maybe all of them, I haven't checked).

36 cpm is not that bad, but I was getting 35 cpm pulling a dry box (and could have that job back tomorrow if I wanted it).

I understand why they cut the pay (fully and completely), but I just can't live on 36 cpm.

    2200 x 36 = $792

Health insurance is $100 a week so that makes it $692.
Food for a week is about another $100...$592.

After everything comes out...I'd be takin home around $500.

I was taking home more than than working at PMT and I was home every night (well, everyday...2nd shift). PMT is a forging company near my house, they laid me and 53 other people off Dec. 21st but they called me back to work last week. I told them I felt that I should stay in the truck for a while because I don't trust the automotive industry much anymore....

Their reply was..."I understand completely, whenever you're ready to come back...if we need anybody, the job is yours."

I was a level 5 forge press operator running an 8,000 ton forge press ($14.95 an hour)

My avg to the house with them was $800-1200 a week. With weekends home. Then it got to where my avg was $600-800 a week and being 3 weeks out.

$14.95 an hr is only $598 a week can't see how you will take home over $500 unless company is picking up 100% of ins. I only spend $20 to $30 a week for food I eat out of the truck most of the time most truck stop food sucks anyway and I refuse to eat fast food. Don't have to pay for ins.wife has gov.job with good benies. Don't know if Maverick has changed policy but they were giving .3 to .4 cent raise after 6 months. I'm on track to make around $45K this year not the greatest but better than what a lot of people are are doing.

From what I was told the other day, it's .04 cpm raise after 6 months, so still the same from what I have been reading. Though, I haven't heard anything about the bonus they used to give after 6 months. At any rate, I'm leaving this evening to go to Little Rock to start orientation tomorrow morning. I don't have an air card, so unless I can make it to over to the pilot or petro I won't be on to give any updates, but I'll try.

I drive for Maverick. Im home most weekends, some weekends are longer than others, but thats trucking. If you want a job where you dont get hot, cold, dirty, or sweaty, Maverick is not for you. But if you dont mind applying a little elbow grease to your daily routine then I would say that you wont do better than Maverick. Ive been running the US division for 2 years and can honestly say ive never had a run in with anyone there. Made over 50K 1st and 2nd year and am on track to do the same for the 3rd year. Well thats my two cents good luck to you all.

Be safe and remember, get YOURSELF there safe and ontime, your load will arrive a couple of seconds behind you.

They did pay a large part of it...it only cost me $35 a week for the family plan. I averaged 20 hours of overtime per week...

It costs me a bit more to eat because I eat GOOD FOOD...I'm not losing my good health over a job. I don't eat in truck stops either (well, VERY rarely)...I'm usually that Maverick truck parked near the Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse, Sagebrush, etc...I'm gonna eat, and eat well no matter what it costs me.

The only issues I ever had at maverick (and all co's have issues, some more than others) was the occasional CSR that had no clue.

I too will get the 100 mph CSR occasionally , but I call my FM and tell him I have A 65mph truck and its taken care of fairly quick. It's true that every company has it's box of issues, it's just that I've found Maverick's box to be smaller than anyone elses that I've pulled for.
