yeah, that cuz THOSE customers cannot complain anymore..

let him try any of that crap with real LIVE customers, and bosses that would just as easily show him the door.

first customer that tells him to drop his trailer and park at the far end and he says no, or the first customer he tells them , "he ain't gonna be there on time"...i wanna be there to witness that.

i had worked at a couple of companies that provided work shirts and jackets, and pants (Ryder and LILY Transportation) and i liked it, i got to keep those work clothes, and jackets, and i still have many of them, in which i use at home to do yard work, work on the cars, or paint the house...i just wash them and keep reusing them, until they rip so badly, then i have to throw them away.

my grown kids have some of them as well, to use at thier houses.

Not even remotely true with regard to FXF. Take your detour, put in for the mileage when you get to your destination. No permission needed. That policy disappeared years ago.

Why wouldn't you want to wear a uniform? That is a perk as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather grease and stuff get on the company provided apparel. But, assuming your proposed question isn't troll bait, LTL generally expects you to follow their policies and procedures, they are after all, paying you a far more respectable wage than OTR.

Linehaul is an operation of LTL as well, City drivers in Boston can't exactly deliver freight picked up in Sacramento without it.

Most LTL is not union these days. You have ABF/YRC/UPSF/Some XPO locations that are union, the rest, generally aren't. The upside is that most companies compensate and offer benefit packages that exceed union outfits to help keep people from thinking that unionizing would be a good idea.

Maybe for some. But for me it free clothing that I can use at work and at home. I don't like being pushed. Give me dispatch orders and leave me alone. Push me and I'll leave. Told my boss not long ago that the company needs me and guys like me more than we needed them. Everybody needs drivers. Especially those who will unload a truck everyday by hand.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Why ever would someone leave the position of main embalmer when you tell your boss how it is to go drive a truck? I could see if you were like 3rd string on the AA embalming team but main embalmer who calls the shots. That would be like LeBron becoming a used car salesman.

Not true. They relaxed that rule a while back, we just can't be stupid about it.

Like any job... if your trying to get yourself canned it will happen. Show up and do your job you will not have a problem. Now wrecking trucks and failing drug screens/ being drunk is a given.
