Hey I agree do not abandon the truck. I know you are frustrated and rightfully so I have asked their operations manager via the qualcomm and she will not answer you. Mike Thompson aka Bernie Madoff is a joke. Just think all they are hiring now is lease operators so they run you enough to make the payment plus they are deducting escrow, security and maintenance and if you don't make it 6 months they keep most if not all of that. Than they just lease out the same equipment again.

Ah - but I really can do things other than drive trucks - unlike many truck drivers out there. I worked in the airfreight business for 15 years: I know the entire international import/export biz (and I can get my Customs Broker license), I restore old cars (which is what I'm getting into: I'd keep my CDL in case we need to buy our own car hauler), and I can run other businesses as well - ALL that'll have me home everynight. The trucking business already has me up #### creek, so what difference would it make? Unless I can ever get my own tractor & sign on with Landstar, I'm just wasting my time with other companies. Seriously, they haven't even realized that I've been home for 6 days now! (or they just don't care)
ghostchild Thanks this. -
Sorry to hear this story again and again! If funds are low, which in case by many, just stay on the company side. Been in the business a long time and with what i read and hear over most companies, you'll make more as a company driver anyway. Don't let all those big riggers bs u. As for Henderson, talk to some of their drivers at the produce sheds. The big problem on their side is alot of customers are requesting the teams and also cutting rates using the so-called economy as an excuse. If u were around yuma, etc. and seen the record numbers of snowbirds in their expensive rvs pulling their toy wagons, makes u think. Also the yachts are are the rise here on lake michigan and soforth. Americas next biggest mystery. Wouldn't suggest leaving the truck their either, the crap one sided DAC follows. TRY and see if you can get the truck on some kind of terms back to salem and work out a bus ticket for return. Talk rationally with them when doing so. Other options are searching for a carrier instead of playing on this message board and getting on the road to pay some bills. It will take awhile for the Dac to show up anyway. Me personnally, don't give a rats ### over the Dac report. Most are inaccurate. Good luck to you driver.

lol...no kidding about the DAC: I recently took a look at my credit report, and man - there were addresses on there that I'd never heard of! I guess somebody tried to steal my identity, and found out they were wasting their time, because I have nothing! (I have a good credit score, but no credit - can't buy jack!) I got it all cleaned up very easily, but my basic situation was still the same afterwards.
I may call them tomorrow...after a few job interviews, as the one I had lined up may have flaked on me. And yeah - I talked to a team that dead-headed to California from Denver - but they wouldn't let me do that to pick up a load, for some reason! -
Henderson is a good company if you are a team or live in the midwest. Solos that lease on there and need to go home every 3 wks will not make it unless you live in the midwest that is where there solo freight is. Drivers have to research more than just a companies pay rate and the type of trucks they have
-
most companies will give you a bus ticket home then take it out of your final check. But being that you are a lease, they may not do that for you. Have a relative wire you money for a bus or plane ticket, or they can purchase a ticket for you online or by phone. If that fails, you can hop a freight train and ride on a JB Hunt container back to cali. Who knows, maybe there will be some other drivers on there with you that you can party with.

I agree taking the truck back, taking photos inside and out and having Hendrickson sign for it is better than abandoning the trucks some where. -
another so called truck driver that can't handle the life of the road' so he is going to leave the truck at the t/s and just go on his marry way' well that is how he is going to look at it' i am glad that he is not driving' i bet he could not even find his way if a map was in front of him. and i hope dac sticks it to him. say good by to his cdl.

Well, guess what? I left trucking, and I'm restoring vintage cars now, and never happier! It took a little longer to get into it than expected, but I no longer have all the unneccissary crap to deal with, all for a meager paycheck.
I work when I want, take time off when I want, and I'm home all the time - can't beat that.
I won't say what happened in the end with Henderson, because if I do & they're monitoring this, they'll know who I am. However, it was humorous how they stuck their feet into their mouths!
I've heard there's been a shake-up in their office, but I don't know/don't care, but I sure do see plenty more of their trucks out here nowadays.
But still - stay away from these jerks!
