I am a hotshot driver in the oilfield and today I was pulled over in Oklahoma by the Highway Patrol and he performed a level 1 inspection on me.
I was issued a "unsecured load violation" for 2 of my straps not touching a piece in the middle of the pallet I had on the deck.
Will this go on my record? Will this hurt me getting hired on with a different company? How much will it affect the company CSA score?
The trooper was very nice and told me he wanted to help me learn since I am a new driver and actually took the time to show me some tips & tricks for securing little pieces like that so I won't get into trouble again. I feel really bad about it because this is the first level 1 I have not passed in the 4 I have received in my 6 months of driving at my first trucking company.

Take it as a learning experience, and move on.
If there is a hit on your record it will pass with time.
And he did offer advice to help you. -
Dont worry about it. It happens to the best of us. If u ever need help securing something dont be afraid to start a thread in the flatbed forum on here. Your Lawman teaching you at the Level One is truly one of the good ones. You want to keep him along =)
Some Lawmen are tinpots and will not bother with you. But the few that takes time to teach you a few things they are the ones who will make you a brighter future.
I am less concerned with the failed inspection but rather you learn and maybe get ideas how to post imagery next time you are not sure of a load. Have at it. -

I most defientley learned and will never let that happen again. I always do my best to make sure my load securement is up to par when hauling drilling tools. I was assigned a crosstown run today hauling little oilfield equipment pieces and I just didn't take the time to make sure every little tubular had a strap on it and It was my lucky day to get pulled over. Live and learn.
He technically could have put me OOS but he helped me fix it, wished me a happy holiday and I was back on the road.BigDog Trucker, Shawn2130, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this.
