Unsecured load violation

I am a hotshot driver in the oilfield and today I was pulled over in Oklahoma by the Highway Patrol and he performed a level 1 inspection on me.

I was issued a "unsecured load violation" for 2 of my straps not touching a piece in the middle of the pallet I had on the deck.

Will this go on my record? Will this hurt me getting hired on with a different company? How much will it affect the company CSA score?


The trooper was very nice and told me he wanted to help me learn since I am a new driver and actually took the time to show me some tips & tricks for securing little pieces like that so I won't get into trouble again. I feel really bad about it because this is the first level 1 I have not passed in the 4 I have received in my 6 months of driving at my first trucking company.

 

I do not. It was a pallet with 4 little subs. 2 lager ones on the outside and 1 smaller one in the middle.

 

He had me run another strap through the pallet, up over the little sub that had no straps touching it, then back out the other side to hook to rub rail.

 

I most defientley learned and will never let that happen again. I always do my best to make sure my load securement is up to par when hauling drilling tools. I was assigned a crosstown run today hauling little oilfield equipment pieces and I just didn't take the time to make sure every little tubular had a strap on it and It was my lucky day to get pulled over. Live and learn.

He technically could have put me OOS but he helped me fix it, wished me a happy holiday and I was back on the road.
