Where i come from 90 and over is arrest or used to be.

20 over is the kiss of death for about 3 years plus in trucking employablity. You will suffer economic losses for being unhireable for that time period.

Now I am not here to be mean, a workaround is to get a tiny, and I mean TINY dump truck job that does not give a #### what you have as long you have the proper licensing to drive that dump truck like I did. I had a mutual friend put me in one for a while after I racked up 7 points in speeding, all of them well over 20+ rack rack rack. Judge knocked one point off to avoid suspending the CDL back then.

It was about 5 years before anyone that was quality would take me in and that happened after the late 90's which gave me a future once i got to Batesville and out of Maryland for good. Everything came together here in the south.

So plan on doing something totally different, which does not involve trucking for three to five years. Stop that speeding, that your first goal.

 

This is going to cost you a lot of money, when its all said and done. I'd start looking for a new gig now before the court dates show up.

If you have nothing else your license can stand the hit. However, as has been stated YOU can at the least expect someone in safety to do some chewing on your backside. Remember this and never forget it. That CDL is your livelihood. Honesty compels me to tell you, if you worked for me I would, in fact, fire you the minute I heard of this. REASON? Well my DOT operating authority is MY livelihood! I know it is in your POV and I understand this. Going 20 over shows careless disregard, I can't and NEVER will abide that!

Sometimes it's really hard to believe the driving habits of people that drive for a living. The job that pays their bills, puts a roof over their head, buys them food, pays for their well deserved vacation.
My only wish is that many more of them would get caught when they are doing something stupid. You have to respect your license.

 

I keep telling people protect your cdl at all costs but that doesn't sink in.

I keep telling people their behavior off the job reflects on their on the job behavior.

I won't say the op deserves to lose his job but this morning I fired two drivers for speeding and not telling anyone about it and both of them were over 15.

 

One thing I have started to notice is how carriers treat violations. I spoke to a guy that handles safety in a 200 to 300 tractor fleet. He told me they look more at the total points than a single violation, but pay attention to both. Once a driver reaches a certain point level and they discover this from insurance or the yearly review they will send the driver a warning letter. Get another ticket and its bye-bye. BY points I am not talking about CSA points. I am talking about state points against a CDL. I would be more concerned about a driver that has three recent 4 or 5 over tickets than say one 15 over and nothing else in their history.
