The Do not call list went after scammers and robos to the tune of hundreds of millions in violations awarded. However they have only like collected extremely little. I don't recall how little but essentially nothing.

I fought off them by first using a app on smartphone to reject them, then when the phone got buried changed numbers every few months until I replaced both phone and upgraded enough to have a phone that will self block any number.

There is only 4 people on earth I use it for. Everyone else is blocked. Once those 4 are gone, there is no point keeping a actual phone except for 911 or whatever which you can dail from any dead phone as long you have power.

In essence phone tech is being excluded from my life. It started back in the 2007 landline political robo spam for the Obama elections to our home. We snipped the land line and tossed the phone into the trash. And from there it was war.

What about me? Well I call using relay for a very important call when needed. That number is never given out. Scammers do find it occasionally because its registered to me personally but its very easy to just have the operator snip that on their end.

Trucking? A simple cell phone. Pull battery when it's time to sleep. None of that dispatcher bothering in the rest time. They will just have to wait.

Congress is a broken machine. Masses of yes men voting like they are told to by the majority and minority whips in leadership at the speakers command. Those who don't toe the votes properly are taken care of in various ways and generally ineffective.

I follow congress daily on Cspan etc. And frankly I think two days a week is reserved for voting in the evening after required debates of 20 minutes prior. They rack up 3 to 5 bills debate on all of them maybe 30 or so int he whole house and later on when calling the votes get the other 400 in there asap to throw down votes like they are told to.

After the vote to passage, those bills to the Senate. If they pass then Prez signs. Thats how our govt works. There is a whole mountain of bills that simply get tabled in the Senate and die there so to speak. Its their privileged.

Then go home on thursday every week. I think its about 175000 dollars per year for that work.

What we see on Cspan or whatever else is just lipservice, window dressing ordinary business etc. Nothing of real value. Name a post office? Done in a hour next.

NOW the real action is in the committees. The president is essentially impeached as soon as the speaker formally puts that to the whole house vote on the floor in a near future show on television. Then it goes to the Senate where they try the case yes or no. If yes then hes removed and vice president is president and Speaker becomes vice president. Its just the way government rolls. Nothing of value displayed to the public until the entire house knows there is a 217 vote majority or 2/3s as needed to ram it.

And we are just .... a Nation of people who can call them and rage, but they have staff to take care of that.

In my world... I have pretty much quit following all media on televison. There is no point. Nothing of value. If you want to know the good stuff go online and dig it up.

You know they track your internet usage too. They see everything you look at, so if you're gonna get rid of your phone, you should get rid of your internet too. Seriously, for everyones sake.

Found out about the retirement package for representatives a few years back. Ended up chatting pretty serious with some local folks about setting up an alliance of people that want a retirement like that and we would shoot to cycle all the members (or their delegate, one guy wanted his daughter to run) through. Figured if 20 people put in $10k each we could fund an effective local election. With an understanding that the person elected would repay the fund out of their salary. Was an interesting idea until they redrew the districts.

How Congress Retirement Pay Compares to the Overall Average

Ive been bit several times for politics, but write this when I did as a simple cliff notes lesson on whats going on these days in Congress. Everything important is behind closed doors. Public not welcome. I think 12 in leadership tell the hundreds in the house what to vote yes no and when. In advance.

If it is rigged? I guess so. All the states have to do is launch recall elections to replace the representatives and they will need to find a new speaker. Its all there in the laws. But nothing like that will happen.

I think gerrymandering as it's called redrawing maps based on what people live where is common, only they dont call it Gerrymandering out loud.

One night late about 1 am the US senate had tied on a ongoing vote to implement national carry just like we use drivers licensing. Which would have been historic.

Who comes stumbling through the blue doors at the last minute late to the end of the vote? One of our Arkansas senators. He went straight to his leader (Democrat) and he was told how to vote. Went and voted, changed it twice finally stood at no. Killing it.

All spread live on Cspan2 that night. When the people slept. The senator retired that year to be with his beloved family; but he did the damage. And so thats the end of that little adventure.

If you examine the Federal Register and find the tens or hundreds of thousands of laws made and passed in our Nation, its a wonder why we aint all felons and lawbreakers by now.

Some days I think about emigrating to some tiny land somewhere and just sit on the patio in a wonderful place where there is hardly any law to speak of. Or crime or whatever.
