Simple magnet mount, three magnet is perfect with a tall stick (anything that makes it under 11 feet), don't need anything more than that. The box on the chassis is more likely a composite so anything about reflecting a signal goes out the window.

Put it on the cab, tune the antenna and boom, it should work well.

    Meteorgray and jessejamesdallas Thank this.

True, but I personally like a permanent mounted antenna. I’ve used the fender mount antenna on a couple of my vehicles over the years, and I thought they performed rather well. I think what I liked the most about it, was being able keep an eye on the antenna.

The OP already is using a short magnet-mount antenna which limits performance not because it has a magnet mount but because it's short.

The solution is to simply get a taller magnet mount antenna to get better performance. This is especially true since:

    1. He is restricted from punching holes in the vehicle.

    2. The magnet-mount antenna, inch-for-inch, yields RF performance as good as or better than any other design out there.
The tests and testimonies I've seen through the years show this to be true.

Yep, the three magnet mount allows the taller antenna and the limitations are the 11 to 12 foot bridge clearance. So I agree a four foot antenna isn't going to cut it.

    Meteorgray Thanks this.

I bought a quad mag but i need to make ant stud part taller from the mags cause i wanna use a seperate coax from the cheap style that came with it..In doing so i now discovered ill need new anti scratch pads cause originals are just stick on and ya gotta pull then off to put a socket on the bolt head.
