    Hey Dyno,

    Any info would be great! I am hoping to get in with Central Transport and/or PJAX this week. As for the tanker jobs, I don't know if they will take me as I don't have experience...I know some with train, but others like Nalco may not as much.

    Any info you can pass along will help! Thank you, Dyno!

    Well, need to talk to friend who worked for them; but, this will give you an idea (from Perry's road test): The road test is NOT about ability to drive a truck (that's understood, they hire experienced drivers only). The test is about how you drive a "tanker with a HazMat load"...So, Perry had pretty much gone out and did the test. The guy tells Perry, "That's it, the road test is completed. You did fine, let's head back to the yard." On the way back they're shooting the breeze and he's completing the paperwork for the road test. Their yard is in an industrial area (Los Angeles) and the street leading to the Nalco entrance is used only by Nalco. Just before the entrance, there's a sign (I think a Stop Sign). The Test Administrator says, "Aww, just blow the sign, there are no trucks in this yard, and park over by the building up ahead." Perry then tells him, "I'm sorry, I can't do that. I'm hauling a HazMat load (simulated), the test may be over; but, I don't 'blow' signs. Traffic or no traffic." He later found out that had he done as the test administrator instructed, he would have failed the test on the spot. It did not matter that he was told, "The test is over." That was the reason for most failures: Obeying the "Blow the sign" instruction. I guess the moral of that story is: If you drive for Nalco, you drive strictly by the rules, no matter what anyone tells you. Ultimately, YOU are the judge of what is safe and what isn't.

    Wow, thank you Dyno! If I were getting along with the guy I would be tempted to do it.....Definitely won't now! Thank you.

    I am hoping for a call from them (or anyone at this point).

    Exactly! That's what they are testing for!

    They want your response to:

    Your course of action when...

    1. ...a 'friend/associate' suggests you act in an unsafe manner;
    2. ...a NALCO employee, in a position of authority, instructs you to act in a manner that is unsafe/illegal;
    3. ...confronted with a situation in which a sign instructs to you act in a way that appears meaningless, i.e., you pull up to a Stop Sign in a completely deserted yard.
    Bottom line: Are you a driver that is willing to cut corners, no matter how 'safe' in may appear; and/or, are you a driver that will defer to 'authority' when ordered to act in a manner contrary to company policy (or, DOT Rules & Regulations).

    It's tricky, maybe even sneaky; but, important. That's why if you fail this one element, you fail all. They want drivers with Good driving skills; but, they want drivers with Excellent decision making skills!

    I am applying for Schneider tanker position and would like some feed backabout driving for them regionally. I have seven years experience driving semis , but have never driven tanker. I just got my hazmzt, tanker and doubles endorsements. Any advice or information would be helpful.

    I know Kenan Advantage has some O/O, I think (guys correct me if I'm wrong). I have seen what appears to be O/O's pulling KAG tanks from time to time. I know KAG does OTR and local as I've seen daycabs and sleeper trucks. Mostly daycabs though.
