Gotta figure out how to flip my block upside down. Was hoping to have a machine here to do it but its looking like its gonna be a backwoods type deal with a 1 ton engine hoist.

Old Barboursville Transfer (Brick Yard) trucks. I still remember them in their prime. These were bought new back before I was even a teenager. Mom’s brother in law drove these trucks when they were new.
Ford 477 V8 gas engines, 5 speed main transmission / 4 speed brownie’s.
I pulled the 477 out of one of them and replaced it with a Caterpillar 3208, gained fuel economy but didn’t gain pulling power.....

Had an old farmhouse like that where my new home sits. Hated to tear it down bug it was to far gone. Was my dad's home growing up. Him and three other siblings were born and raised in it. Did salvage some of the chestnut lumber and doors and trim out of it. Dad started his truckin company out of a shed in back. With one limespreader truck and a little dumptruck. When he sold out in 85 he had 15 trucks and 12 o/o leased on with him. I remember as a kid I would have to walk up the hill to that home and stoke the old coal furnace every night fer grammaw. She was a tough ole gal. Lived to 98 yrs.

I used an engine hoist and four rubber mudflap layed on the floor. Then set the block up on four jack stands. More stable than you would think !Al. Roper, jamespmack, Slowpoke KW and 18 others Thank this.
