Is overweight ticket affecting safety score ?
On the confirmation the weight stated 44-46k , truck scales empty 32k . Driver was getting loaded literally at the field with pallets with sand . After loading driver asked the loader about weight and bol . Loader said around 40k , no bol - make one yourself . Origin was around KC , destination Cummings ga . Around saint Louis he was going through scales and his weight was 84.5k . Who's fault it is - i mean my overlooking or driver ? I asked the driver how come he didn't feel that he is heavy - his answer was the truck pulls so strong and good that he didn't feel it .
I suggested him to go though scale at the nearest truckstop next time if he is not sure about his weight . Just want to hear some advices or opinions .

Get an air pressure weight gauge. I have one for the fith wheel. 84k I would feel it. You could have scaled for 12 bucks.
PE_T, LoneRanger, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
Always the responsibility of the driver to scale out. It takes 5 minutes and u can do it on ur phone nowadays. There is not many places where u will hit a coop before a cat scale or atleast a cat scale in the area. Me personally i think it should be on the shipper in a perfect world but as drivers we all know its our responisibility

I would have stopped at the first scales I could find and weighed. Sand is heavy especially wet sand.
